As a child growing up in Africa, Sarah was inspired by the hours she spent watching her father work in his studio, where he drew and created collages. The wide-open spaces and plant life gave her a love of colour and an eye for composition. Mix this with teenage years spent collecting vintage cloth, furniture and traveling, and you have an idea of what has influenced her style. Sarah Arnett’s beautiful work is renowned for its colorful nature-inspired prints. Her love of gardening and botanical gardens is key to her work, mixed with a fascination for photography, cinema and travel, all of which influence and contribute to her distinctive, signature designs.

Studying and interpreting flowers and foliage are the starting point of her projects. Throughout her work there are recurring themes of tree motifs, abstract patterns inspired by tropical plants and landscapes with deep and vibrant colourways; a real visual treat. Sarah’s illustrations develop from a sketch book of drawings, photographs and colour washes which are then digitally illustrated.

Sarah was recently commissioned by Dior Perfumes to create an illustration influenced by Rene Gruau, and to show as part of Dior Illustrated: René Gruau and the Line of Beauty.
